Within the monitoring projects, the monitoring of the behavior of buildings in time is carried out throughout their life, starting from the moment of execution and represents a collection activity, interpretation of the information resulting from observation and measurements made to determine the position changes that have occurred. over time, so that stability and safety in operation are ensured.
The results provided in a project to track the behavior of buildings in time are vitally important information, necessary to determine whether they can be safely exploited..
From the point of view of the methods by which the behavior of the buildings and land is tracked in time, we distinguish:
Physical methods:the devices with which the measurements are made are located on the researched construction, or inside it, situation in which the devices move with the construction. By physical methods, relative displacements are generally measured.
- Geometric methods (geodesics): in this case, the position of certain points fixed on the construction is reported, to a series of fixed points located outside the area of influence of the factors that act on the constructions and the lands on which they are located. These methods determine the absolute and relative sizes of the vertical, horizontal or spatial displacements.
